Family Therapy & Parenting Skills

Is your house like a war zone?

Constant arguing and bickering?

Have to tell your kids 5… 10… 15 times to do basic tasks? So, you lose it and yell after the 15th time… everyone hates yelling – but COME ON!

Everything is a battle, and it starts the minute it’s time to get up in the morning.

It should NOT take 45 minutes to get my kid out of bed every day. It’s like trying to herd cats just to get out the door on time.

Then there are the electronics. Put the phone down! Get off the iPad! No, you cannot play Fortnite for 6 hours a day!

There has to be a better way!

You want things to be better, but it feels as though you have tried everything.

You take things away… that doesn’t work. You’ve tried ignoring the behavior… that doesn’t work.

Screaming doesn’t work!

Do you feel so frustrated and overwhelmed that you just snap at your kids? Do you say things like, “WHY CAN’T YOU JUST LISTEN?” Your child looks at you with sad and angry eyes; then he starts to cry.

Then the guilt sets in.

You want peace in your home… to enjoy time with your kids.

Imagine, your child wakes up to their own alarm and gets ready for school without arguing. You leave the house on time, tell them “I love you,” and smile as they get out of the car at school.

After school, they come home, take a quick break, then do homework with little to no prompting from you. You have dinner and hang out before going to bed. No yelling about taking a shower and brushing their teeth, because it’s already done.

Weekends are spent doing things as a family. Having dinner, going to the beach, watching movies. The connection you have as a family is amazing.

We’ll draw on your strengths…

There are tons of parenting books out there, but you and your family are unique.

I believe every family has strengths. We will work to identify those strengths and use them to improve the climate in your home.

I will observe the way everyone in the family communicates with each other and provide guidance on ways to improve communication and increase cooperation.

We’ll foster better connections…

My philosophy on parenting is based on love, not fear. I strongly focus on improving your connection with your child, which in turn will improve cooperation and the climate of your home.

We will focus on successfully setting limits – by switching up your wording and following through with commands.

You will learn how, when necessary, to take time before you respond to your child.

You’ll acquire new vocabulary that will both help your child and help you avoid guilt that often results from confrontation.

Getting to cooperation…

Once you have a strong, trusting relationship, cooperation will come more easily.
